Lüneburg/Hamburg, 9 July 2025 – Just a few weeks after the topping-out ceremony, Garbe Industrial has already fully leased the logistics property in Lüneburg (Lower Saxony, Germany), which is still under construction. The renowned garden furniture manufacturer Garpa will move into the modern property with a total area of around 20,200 square metres. The company, based in Escheburg near Hamburg, will use the building to store, assemble and repair garden furniture. The lease begins on 1 October 2025.
“We are proud that we have managed to lease the entire space during the construction phase despite the current economic climate,” emphasises Maik Zeranski, Member of the Executive Board at Garbe Industrial. “The successful conclusion of the contract speaks for the quality of the property and shows that we were right in choosing the location and deciding to start construction on a speculative basis.” The investment volume amounts to around 27 million Euro.
The property is being built on a plot of around 33,000 square metres in the Gewerbepark Ost, just a few hundred metres from Lüneburg harbour and the Elbe canal. The lease agreement with Garpa includes almost 17,400 square metres of hall space, around 2,200 square metres of warehouse space and approximately 600 square metres of office space. Among other things, the tenant will install a narrow-aisle racking system in the hall. The new building will be equipped with 17 dock levellers and two sectional doors at ground level for the loading and unloading of trucks. Parking spaces for 55 cars and five trucks will be provided outside.
“With Garpa, we have gained a strong partner, whose high-quality garden furniture fits perfectly with the property we have developed,” says Maik Zeranski. For over 45 years, the company has specialised in the manufacture and sale of exclusive chairs, armchairs, tables, loungers and lounge furniture for gardens and patios. The objects are produced in selected factories. The furniture is to be stored and assembled in Lüneburg, from where it will be delivered to end customers in Germany and neighbouring countries.
The business park is connected to the A39 motorway via the B216 and B209 main roads. It connects Lüneburg with the Maschen junction and onwards via the A1 and A7 motorways to Hamburg and other destinations along the two important north-south axes. “We were impressed by both the location and the quality of the property,” says Garpa Managing Director Hauke Petersen: “The new building fulfils all the requirements for further growth.” The garden furniture manufacturer is moving its warehouse from its previous location in Geesthacht to Lüneburg.
The new tenant also welcomes the sustainable design of the new building. A photovoltaic system with a total peak output of around 1.7 megawatts will be installed on the roof to generate renewable energy. To avoid the use of fossil fuels, the property will be heated using air source heat pumps. Garbe Industrial is aiming for certification for the property in accordance with the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council.
