Werne/Hamburg, 22 July 2025 – Blitz Distribution GmbH is a new tenant of Garbe Industrial in Werne, North Rhine-Westphalia (Unna district). The e-commerce company is a subsidiary of GigaCloud Technology Inc., a provider of global end-to-end B2B technology solutions for large parcel merchandise. Blitz Distribution will use around 37,000 square metres of warehouse space and around 1,000 square metres of office and social space in Werne to handle the fulfilment of furniture, household and fitness equipment ordered online.
“The rapid re-letting following a change of tenant shows that high-quality logistics spaces in attractive locations remain in demand even in today’s challenging market environment,” says Hans-Jürgen Blanke, Regional Head of Real Estate Management at Garbe Industrial.
For the online retailer, the location is an important strategic expansion to increase the Group’s fulfilment capacities in Germany while simultaneously supporting cross-border distribution and growth in Europe.
The leased logistics spaces, equipped with 30 gates for fast goods handling, are part of Garbe Industrial’s logistics centre in the Wahrbrink industrial estate in Werne. In 2018, the real estate company acquired the former Ikea site with a total area of 295,000 square metres, extensively renovated it, created new building spaces with a total area of more than 123,000 square metres and successfully leased them. In addition, a property with a total area of 45,000 square metres, used by logistics and production companies, was retained in the course of the revitalisation.
As with all project developments, Garbe Industrial placed particular emphasis on sustainability in its new building projects. Both new buildings are certified to the Gold Standard of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). A photovoltaic system with a peak output of 4.8 megawatts is installed on the warehouse roofs to generate renewable energy.
In addition, the location in the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region has excellent transport links. It is located directly on the B54 federal road, just a few kilometres from the A1 and A2 motorways. These two important transport axes connect Hamburg with Cologne and Berlin with the Ruhr region. The nearest bus stop for public transport is 200 metres away.
The property consultancy firm BNP Paribas Real Estate Düsseldorf acted as an intermediary during the leasing process.
